NEWS

Toyo Tanso Co., Ltd. has received the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award and the Award for Excellence at the 9th Monodzukuri Japan Grand Awards in Japan.

The "Monodzukuri Nippon Grand Awards," awarded by the Prime Minister of Japan, is a system to honor those who are recognized as particularly outstanding among those of each generation who are active on the front lines of manufacturing, in order to steadily carry on manufacturing, which has supported the development of Japanese industry and culture and contributed greatly to the creation of a prosperous national life, and further develop it while flexibly responding to new changes in the business environment. The awards are given to those who are recognized as particularly outstanding among the front-line workers of each generation.

Feature

CNovel® has a special, high-mesoporous structure which is unlike that of typical carbon materials like activated carbon. It is a new carbon material which has been considered difficult to obtain as an industrial material. One particular property is the structure called "inter-connected pores", which are mesopores connected to each other.

Feature

Typical porous materials

Porous materials having a lot of pores. It is applied to filters and analytical instruments with its ability to adsorption/desorption. In recent years, there are finding spread application as energy storage devices.

Porous materials and their pores

Porous materials are classified into the following groups: microporous material, mesoporous materials and macroporous materials according to pore sizes. It is necessary to select suitable porous material depending on the target substance. CNovel® is a mesoporous carbon material that has never been found in conventional carbon materials.

Controlled by proprietary technology "inter-connected pores"

CNovel® having three-dimensional network structure are formed by controlled mesopores. One particular property is the structure called "inter-connected pores", which are mesopores connected to each other. This structure contributes to functional expression and functional improvement not seen in existing materials.

Control of chemical functions with surface structures

There are chemical species called functional groups on the surface of the carbon material, and the chemical properties of the surface change greatly depending on the presence or absence of the functional group. CNovel® can control chemical functions without changing physical properties. Therefore, by controlling the surface condition, it is possible to control chemical functions such as wettability to water.

Function

High dispersibility

CNovel® is a highly dispersible material due to its unique pore structure. It can be seen that CNovel® is easily dispersed compared to other materials. High dispersion can also be expected for organic solvents and resins.

High blackness

CNovel® has a very high degree of blackness (* L is low) compared to conventional black pigments and achieves deep, pure black. Development is expected for various applications where jet black is required. Furthermore, it is a pigment that can be easily prepared ink because of its high dispersibility compared to carbon black.

You can see that CNovel® is blacker than titanium black, iron oxide and carbon black.
